Tackling the Nightmares of Chemical Production Scheduling
⊆ May 4th by admin | ˜ No Comments »In theory, production scheduling of chemical processes seems simple enough. How hard can it be to draw up a plan that efficiently allocates production tasks?
To tell you the truth, scheduling actually can get quite sticky–especially when it comes to chemical production.
Production scheduling decisions normally involve four main areas of focus:
1. tasks to be performed;
2. the units they will run on;
3. their start time and duration; and
4. the volume processed;
These areas are easy to oversee when we address consumer products that can be organized quantitatively in single units. But what happens when scheduling methods are used for batch processes instead of continuous processing, or when scheduling problems arise in transportation and unloading? These are the questions we pose when we think about how to plan and schedule the production of chemicals.
This blog was created in hopes to address those hard to answer problems with chemical production scheduling. In future posts, you will be able to learn effective methods to optimize production in all the four areas of scheduling previously mentioned. This blog is also aimed to inform you about current events and trends occurring within the chemical production industry.
